Dear readers, it has come to our attention of a recent publication, the Malbria ul Flardossa, has recently made its way onto the streets and into the hearts and minds of our populace. While the Drache Rumormill cannot condone the recent lack of notable activity from Drache nobles during the famine and the lack of response from any of our Governing Privy Council, we must hereby state that we have no affiliation with this paper whatsoever, nor are we aware of its author. The RumorMill stands to condemn this blatant anarchist propaganda, which has only served to cause chaos and mayhem at the sake of innocent blood. May those who be the writ of such foul words know that the blood of many now rests upon their hands.

As many of you know, many parts of our city still burn, and even us, the writers ourselves, have been staved of resources and lost house and home due to these violent acts. We bring you this special news service, spread by town criers and cheap waxboards and inn notices, to bring you developments of the chaos that has been unfolding in our most beloved city.

The City's Matters

HUNDREDS FEARED DEAD, MANY MORE INJURED AS RIOTING ESCALATES

The recent outbreaks of rioting and looting within our city exploded out of control last eve when angered mobs, numbering in the high hundreds, marched from the Wharf District through an unguarded Iron Gate into the Black Dragon District proper. Their needs and desires were a confused babble of protest, some demanded the blood of our Sithire, Marcion Albendar, others demanded the Black Dragon Inn give up her stores to feed the hungry.

The conflict began shortly after the second night bell. Scores of rioters were sighted congregating into a large crowd, bearing torches along with crude weapons, both forged and improvised. They marched in a long column from the outer Wharfs and caused havoc throughout the northern suburbs, including the Black Dragon Inn. At this point it is impossible to ascertain the extent of the damage, though it is suspected to rise in the ten of thousands in bank crowns, or more.

While details at the moment are sketchy, and few people know the true cause or initiation catalyst of this violent activity, mobs of angry rioters took to the streets, looting and destroying shops, wares and buildings, raiding homes and setting many buildings on fire. A large mob also gathered at the Black Dragon District, where many of its patrons were reportedly assaulted.

It is alarming to the RumorMill that many guards were not reportedly seen anywhere attending to the riots, and witnesses we have asked about the events report that first signs of guards attempting to control the crowds did not arrive in number until hours after the riots commenced.

The violence escalated exponentially, according to some reports. Witnesses have come to the RumorMill reporting the use of magics and sorcery, with both fierce unexplained lightning strikes and searing fire being seen in the crowd towards the latter half of the mob riots.

While the RumorMill is working to piece together as much information as possible, we do not wish to write too much conjecture. But many questions remain unanswered. How did the violent protests, mostly contained previously in the wharf districts, spill so suddenly out of control? How did the mobs manage to break so easily through the Iron Gate, that was reportedly left open and unattended? Why did the Royal Guard, our valiant protectors, take so long to mobilize and bring these hoodlums under control?

Many of these questions and more remain dubiously unanswered, and the RumorMill will bring you much of the upcoming developments and investigations as the week unfolds.

This is Arreloth Darselta, writing to you from the Black Dragon District, on this morning of Loredas, Heartfire 6, in the Year 483.
