Two missives arrive, one clearly written entirely in Marilsani, and the other translated into Arangothek. Both are sealed with the personal seal of Empress Torissa Deus, a red carnation.
Included with the two versions of the missive is a bottle of Marilsani red.To Her most honorable Isabelle Auxerre, Sithire of Transdariania,
The humble nation of Marilsan wishes to send an Ambassador to Transdariania in the hopes of negotiating mutually beneficial trade with Your beloved country. We have much to offer in goods and crafts that We hope You might find suitable for a long-standing trade partnership.
In addition, We would ask of Your assistance in mediating a deal with one of Our neighbors, the Tyhinn Empire. We took notice of their Grand Canal project, and can clearly see the benefits of having access to this passage to the Long Sea. As Marilsan is not in a geographic position to begin construction of Our own canal without raising the ire of Our direct neighbors, it is obvious that We must negotiate a deal with the Empire if we are to increase trade and decrease travel time.
As a small nation with little standing in the region, having some representation with Transdariania would help Us in the short term, and We truly believe could benefit Us all in the long term.
Our Ambassador would be joined by a small entourage of no more than ten men of the Brigades, but in plain clothes to not attract unnecessary attention, as well as the usual scribes and translators that may need to be present.
If this is acceptable, or unacceptable, please let Us know at Your earliest convenience so We may begin preparing Our ambassador for the journey and duty ahead. While You decide, please accept this bottle of one of Our finest wines from Our vineyards.
En amistad,
Su Alteza, Emperatriz Torissa Deus
