On the March

Outside the city of Drache lies a number of cities, towns and provinces of varying size and populace. Most of the people living outside Drache are natives who speak Arangothian and observe the native customs and rituals. Click here for a list Arangoth's locales, and here to view a map.

On the March

Ill omens were something in plentiful supply around Transdariania as a whole, rarely did lulls inbetween them last long, in fact, the population tended to become wary when too much time had passed since the last arose. It was, perhaps, something inevitable, the land seemed to be a hotbed of the weird and supernatural, some believed it had to do with the confluence of leylines that wove themselves through the land and centered around Drache proper. High strangeness had a sense of normalcy to it. Despite that fact, the red sun that loomed overhead and cast its fel glow across the land was putting the population on edge, especially with the whispers and rumours trickling in from the east. Whatever the details of the news that were received in Drache, they'd managed to reach the right ears along the way, specifically belonging to those in positions of power. The response by Sithire Auxerre had been relatively swift, as were the actions by those whose orders she'd deigned upon them, as evident by the rumblings of militaristic design at the eastern border. The Lord Protector Ware ul-Broxobain Severn had been roused and rallied two companies worth of soldiers, a mixture of Provincial Guard under his command along with bannermen belonging to The Order of the Watchful Eye with which his noble house had deep roots and marched east with five hundred men.

The Eastern Margrave, Arangire Broxobain ul-Artaxiad Severn, who just so happened to also be the former Lord Protector of Arangoth, along with being the father of the current Lord Protector, were already deep into preparations in the eastern garrison of Asprominke along the border. Long had the noble family dealt with the weirdness that trickled out of The Elgar and occasionally across the border, this certainly wasn't the first time nor likely the last they would serve as the shield that kept such wretched oddities at bay. A battalion worth of well trained, well armed and well supplied soldiers were easily brought to bear from the Margrave's own forces, while another battalion worth of bannermen from various eastern baronies had been raised to serve as reinforcements. By the time the sun set this day, roughly twenty-five hundred men-at-arms had answered the call began preparations to ensure any potential incursions of the eastern border could be swiftly dealt with. The orders of the Sithire were made very clear that any enemy forces that crossed the imaginary line through the land were to be destroyed with extreme prejudice, and considering the forces amassed, it was obvious to see these orders were not being taken lightly in the slightest. The northern, western and southern Margrave's had been alerted of the matter, but as of yet none had received marching orders, nor had a decree of war been made. For now, at least.
