(Elgar Forest) Corruption and Consequence

Post by VII »

There was no hiding the fact it was he that had given the Father the means to control the Phet'kree. The entire tribe knew this. And they despised him, and his family, for such a dishonor on them. How easily they were manipulated, how cruelly they were treated. How swiftly they were ordered about as common slaves. It was known in their history that they had, in fact, once been slaves to traders and caravans. Apt fighters with a primal rage, cunning intellect - they had often been little better than pets at these stages. But they fought, hard and long. Days washed to weeks, to months. Years. He had been amongst the first to wage this war for their freedom, and in so doing, was one of the original responsible parties to encourage violence in his people.

But none of that mattered know. Even with a fresh kill upon his back, the tigrine male stepped with his hefty seven hundred pounds. Seven and a half foot of stature, and the coloration of his fur prominent and proud. The weight of the two elk on his back was nothing. The true weight was of the circumstances presented to him. He had told his family to be on guard, to be ready to flee at a moment's notice. It had been several weeks to him, since the incident had happened. No scent of reprisal was in the air, though his family, his pride, seemed distanced from the rest of the tribe. This was usually a first step of removal. The next, far more devious than even he dared to entertain.

Passing through the brush, he made no sound. Not the crackle of leaves, nor the snap of branches. Instinct, a quiet and thick addition of pads to his feet. Knowing how to place himself. All of this plays a part in him at all times. The reflection of light in his eyes is white, only happening when the full moon catches him just perfect. Upon their encampment, deep in the heart of Elgar Forest, becomes his newest territory. The place is too quiet, though. No stirrings of body, no greeting. No cubs to come and paw at the meat he brings. There isn't even a billow of smoke from the tents of branch and leaf. His suspicion grows by the minute, because even though there is a lack of smoke from a fire, what's more disturbing is the fact his bivawack seems to smoke quite thoroughly.

As he stepped through the entrance, he was greeted by some of his closer brothers. Lionine, leopard and jaguar felinoids stand and smile. Though, the smiles seem to bare much more in teeth and threat than welcomed greeting. He sets the two elk to the ground, noting the fact for one large body of meat, two lesser sizes, spin on a rotisserie. Maybe a moment of compliance, or acceptance, of the circumstances.

The larger lionine male stepped forward, nodding his head in quiet before his deep and thundered bass tone lifted words to the air. "Welcome home, my brother," the thick Phet'kree accent and language quite acute to the ears of those unused to them. A language of drawn consonants and snarls.

A tip of the tigrine head as his eyes glanced between the gathering, the food forgotten for the moment. There was a tension in his muscle, only visible by a ripple of the thick though short fur across his body. His pawed hands opened, and his talons unsheathed from their place. Wicked things that curved in a two-inch length. Sharp enough to make an elephant's hide nothing but kindling. The leonine reacted quickly as the others rose, doning the same weapons, though ranging from larger to smaller than his.

"There is no need, my friend. We come to break bread and address the issues of the tribe." Though genuine, there was a sharp edge to the base tone. Foraii would not be swayed by leonine male's attempts of subtle deception. He stepped to the rotisserie and pealed a portion of meat from what was the breast of the animal. Hunger growled Foraii's stomach to life, and the leonine male could only grin. A twisted thing.

"Come now. Eat with us and let us come to a conclusion of this . . . animosity." He extended the meat forward, though Foraii was hesitant to take of it. He accepts the offering and holds it to his chest, eyes lifting to glance along the line of felinoids closely. They would take the first bite, or he'd come to arms quickly. But where was his family? Had they been taken, had they been subjected to a far bitter retreat of life?

The rest of the gathering grabbed bits and pieces from the three meatsacks presented. They each held a piece of the meat forward, an offering of brotherhood that was often exhumed from the males of the tribe. Though his defenses lowered, his thoughts of family and bloodline kept a firm grasp of him. He extended his meat forward, and after all before him took their bites and swallowed, he devoured the piece like a fat man presented cake after three days starvation.

When he finished in seconds, the congregation seemed to chuckle. Snicker even. He glanced between the males he had called brothers, and only flexed his chest as an attempt of shrug.

"Why do you laugh?" He asked the assorted, a prickly and finely haired tongue cleaning his pawed hands. They looked upon the leonine male, and only grinned. He, himself, suckled his clawed fingers and savored the taste of the meat. He turned his head upon Foraii and tipped it slight, the heavy mane around him sprawling to his shoulders.

"How does your mate taste?" He grinned cruelly, placing his pawed hand to the rotisserie. Foraii squinted his eyes and tilted his head, thick sideburns of fluff waving. The leonine crossed his arms and stepped forward, and though several inches smaller than Foraii, he appeared thicker of muscle.

"Where do you believe we obtained the meat, Foraii?" He lowered his head, and his eyes grew slitted. "Your family has been feeding us for the last hour." The finality of the statement punctuated by a growl, deep and long.

All Foraii could do was hit the floor with his knees. The thud couldn't have been more deafening for him. Knowing that his family, his own personal pride, had been murdered was the worst. However, knowing that his mate's flesh now digested into his system? The thought made him utterly sick. The forlorn look upon his features was not only a give away, but was only the start of emotions. The leonine male turned slowly, and with one powerful jab, rammed his fist into the roasted meat of his mate. The action resulted in Foraii's own body responding, jerking at the action as he gazed upon the rotisserie as if it were the bowels of hell itself. But what happened next was beyond reason. The leonine male removed his hand, and a suppler, much smaller portion of an organ or muscle. He held it by a length of tendon, and glanced at Foraii at his knees. "And this, we suppose, was to be the addition to your family." And his heart become sunk. His body slumped and the eyes fought the need to shed tears. The leonine held out the cooked fetus, not fully developed, though now that he looked upon it. Something that could've been his male of the pride personal. His only heir, cooked. With the back of his hands on the ground, the submission to his situation was quick. Though, how long would it last?

The leonine male gazed at the piece of meat he held, and only rolled his shoulders. "Such a shame for you, my friend. Your only hope for continuing the bloodline, and I'm feeling absolutely famished."

"It is a necessary evil, what we have done today." The leonine leader spoke to an assortment of fourty individuals. Ranging from male, to female, to child. Held in chains, upon his knees, though his head was bowed to the ground. He had no tears to shed for his own blood, consumed by the tribe in the effort of sorting out the weak from the strong. It was often the way of things. Cubs were inspected at birth, and should defect be detected, they were eaten by the pack.

Foraii made no movement, though his eyes gazed on the wooden surface he knelt upon. Venom pumped in his veins, and fueled a hatred that could only be felt, never described. The taste of his mate's meat still in his mouth, his subtle breathing had become a hushed growl; inhales light, exhales heavy. But still, the leonine addressed the tribe as a whole, and explained away his actions as carefree as though plucking a tick from his fur. And how dare he. How dare he make this situation so light and humorous. Idly, and without thought, Foraii lifted his head to gaze at the leonine figure. Tigrine eyes narrowed, and his brows grew closely together. He would've been the proverbial example of feral savagery, if not for those manacles binding his wrists behind his back. His tail uncoiled from his waste, and idly flicked. The signs were there, though the others seemed so adored by the leader's speech, none noticed. And all Foraii could fantasize of was ripping the throat of the leonine from its place, and chewing on his spinal cord the way he had his unborn cub.

"Our actions are not without consequence. We lose, today, a dear brother and friend to this tribe. But let him be a warning to all," the leonine gestured his left hand to Foraii, and the right in a sweep to the congregation. "Weakness will never be tolerated in our ranks. We are Phet'kree, and we are powerful beyond meas-" It was at this point that the leonine looked down at Foraii. Only, he wasn't down any more.

Foraii had come to his feet, hunched only slight on the balls of his feet, claws digging into the wooden surface. His tail twitched to a stiffened stop, though serpent-S'ed, he didn't flinch. His head was low, his lips were quivering. Saliva drooled from the corner of his lips. His whiskers pulled themselves back, and tension of his arms was noticeable. The leonine only paused a moment, but the brief instant was passed with a chuckle. He pointed both arms at Foraii, gesturing for him to speak his mind. Had he any rebuttal.

"Please, Foraii, address us with your final words, brother," the mocking tone was easy to hear. And the leonine's posture became too lax for the situation. He was not without intelligence, keeping close eye on the manacles as he did his former brother. Foraii seethed. The hate, anger and sorrow was almost palpable; like a warm blanket for him now. Foraii had no words to speak. Nothing could be said of his betrayal, and their reaction. He remained at a stand, lips quivering with the ache for the taste of flesh and meat between them. The leonine's more specifically. When a minute passed in silence, the leonine turned to regard him, and cast the tribe's judgement.

"You are banished, Foraii. Never to return, never to be apart of this community. Your name is taken from you, your past glory to be erased from our history." He stepped forward, his arms lowering to his sides. "It is only out of respect for what you have done for us that we have decided not to end your life. Return to our territory, cross our markings or borders again-" His right arm lifted, and grabbed the thick throat of Foraii. He bared his teeth in response, as did the leonine.

"And we will quarter your body and feed it to the cubs," he released him with a jerk and throw. Foraii, not stripped of title and name, hit the floor surface with a heavy sound. Jaguarian men approached, hoisting him by the arms. Growls, hisses and chomping from the gathered, as they followed the condemned to the escape of the encampment.

All the while, the tigrine male could only plot. He could only use strategy over brute strength. Once he was thrown to the outside, his eyes lifted to the moon. The reflection of his lenses bled from white to blue, before his path was clearly set before him. To enact his revenge, to take retribution though justified under their laws; He needed the Father.
