Alright,
So I'm trying to go off of the old map of the known territories of the world and establishing the geography for a new global map accordingly. I've sort of tweaked the geography only a slight bit to accommodate for real climate-affecting elements, such as high altitude mountains and rain shadows (especially for the upper Najjirian peninsula). However, I'm knowingly missing a few things, such as a number of lakes and perhaps other key geographical features.
I need help in referencing the work done to date. Any input on what is missing would help enormously towards making this map as geographically accurate to the setting as humanly possible. Any key features that are missing, please note them in relative coordinates (through commentary) against the world's political map.
Geographical Map:

Against the referenced material:

The original reference material was this:
http://legacy.arangoth.org/images/skins ... rldmap.jpg
Hence anything not on that last map is unknown to me at the moment. Meaning EVERYTHING not already on the original BDI map, I need information on the terrain thereof. If any of those territories belong to any authors here, please provide insight.

Re: The World and its Terrain
Map is being slowly updated (clicking on the original will display the new developments). Countries such as Pentland, Berjeron Empire, Kadut, Pangura, Taopai, Azaan, Bahija, and Alesia don't necessarily have known geographical descriptions. If any of the authors have anything to offer, now is definitely the time, otherwise I'll improvise.

This is really badass; keep it up!
I assume you're maintaining some reference material for this project: short descriptions, general climate, etc. If you could provide that along with the map itself, that could be really helpful!
Also, is this the highest resolution you're doing, or does the detail zoom in pretty far? It could be cool be put the final product in some sort of zoomable Google Maps API kind of thing.

Not sure what Amy's plans are, but I will say this... She did mention possibly using flash to make something of what you're saying. Because she's insane.

That would be insane, but I think this is the max resolution at this point. Would be cool to have a flash version of the globe and have people click on countries and have that take them to the wiki pages. For certain though I plan to do the geographical outline of the countries and place that on each wiki page to give an idea of what the overall terrain looks like.

Re: The World and its Terrain
The people who drew the original maps (myself included) weren't cartography experts, so for the most part, we were just improvising when we drew the maps. By all means, if you need to make tweaks to the terrain to make things make sense, have at it. I'll review the writeups for some of the the listed countries and see if I can pull any geographical information to guide you in your writeup. Also, there's a political map on the legacy site herethat might be helpful in determining borders and the placement of cities on the new world map. http://legacy.arangoth.org/images/skins ... itical.jpg

Very nice work there. It's a great update to the old map and PIgasus' world map along with Ayanula's textures are really making the BDI world take shape and look solid.

OK... so this map is pretty much done. Any changes, let me know, but if no one has any conflicting opinions/data/whathaveyou, this is a print:

Soon to be a rotating globe in .gif form either with an atmosphere:
